How to Get Here

Stuart House by the Bay is located on the beautiful Sunrise Trail, Coastal Route 366, along the Northumberland Strait.


PLEASE NOTE - Summer 2010 (-For tourists coming from Halifax) Due to construction and bridge closure on the Rte 366 visitors traveling from Halifax should come all the way to Exit 3 and turn into Amherst.  Follow this main road  thru Amherst ( 2.5 km) and then turn left onto the 366 (Tyndal Road, Coastal Route) towards Tidnish and Northport.  approximately 25 km to Lorneville and the Stuart House is Civic #5472.  There is a well marked detour if you still want to come thru the 366 from the 6 West as listed in the following paragraph.

For visitors traveling from Halifax, the Annapolis Valley or Nova Scotia's South Shore  take highway 102 northbound from Halifax to its intersection with Highway 104 near Truro.  Exit westbound onto Highway 104 toward New Brunswick.  On Highway 104 take Exit 6 at Oxford and keep straight on through this quaint town.  You will then be on Route 301.  Follow 301 to its end. Turn left onto the 6 West.  In  approximately 1.2 km. you find Coastal Route 366 .  Turn right and follow the beautiful Northumberland coastline for approximately 20 km.  (There is a well marked detour for this summer due to a closure at the Shinimicas Bridge -  which is a gravel and dirt road.) Stuart House is on the left in Lorneville on Route 366 - Civic #5472.

For visitors traveling eastbound from the New Brunswick/Nova Scotia border take Exit 3 and bear right into Amherst.  You will follow Victoria Street through Amherst and see the beautiful Victorian homes.  Approximately 2.5 km. from Amherst turn left on Route 366 (Tyndal Road, Coastal Route) towards Tidnish and Northport.  You will travel approximately 25 km. to Lorneville.  Stuart House is #5472 on Route 366 - 5.3 km. from Tidnish General Store at Tidnish Crossroads.

For visitors traveling from Borden PEI or Confederation Bridge,  follow Route 16 to Port Elgin.  At the Rotary, go into Port Elgin.  At the end of the street turn right and cross the river.  You will pass salt water marshland on you left and a nature pond and Sanctuary on your right.  At Baie Verte  turn left onto the Tidnish Road towards Nova Scotia and follow it to the end. Turn left and cross the river. (A small Tourist Information Center is on your right)  You are on Route 366.  Stuart House is #5472 on this road on the right  (5.3 km from Tidnish General Store)
